Dr Ronald Binetter
M.B.B.S. F.R.C.O. F.R.A.C.S.

Dr. Ronald Binetter graduated in Medicine from the University of New South Wales in 1981.
He then spent 5 years in specialist ophthalmic training at Sydney Eye Hospital and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists in 1990 and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1991.

After a year as a Research Associate in Ophthalmology at St. Vincent’s Hospital he was appointed as a Clinical Assistant in Ophthalmology. At the same time he became a Visiting Medical Officer at Goulburn Base Hospital and a clinical examiner in Ophthalmology for the Civil Aviation Authority.

In 1995 he was appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer in Ophthalmology at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
In 1995 with the emergence of interest in Laser Correction of refractive errors Dr. Binetter travelled to the USA and Canada where he was one of the first Ophthalmologists in Australia to be certified to perform LASIK.

He underwent training with the pioneers of this procedure and in 1997 established a Laser Surgery Centre specializing in LASIK.

This centre now known as the Australian Institute of Eye Surgery specializes in LASIK and Cataract Surgery. It incorporates the finest available laser technology and vision correction treatments. In addition to Olympians and World Champions patients from all over Australia, as well as England, France, Germany, South Africa, the USA and many countries throughout Asia, have come to Dr. Binetter to have LASIK, Cataract Surgery or other vision correction treatments performed.

Dr. Binetter has performed over 5000 Lasik procedures and is one of the most experienced Lasik and Cataract surgeons in Australia. He now instructs other surgeons in Lasik and Cataract Surgery.

He is a founding member of the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and holds memberships to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.
