Roby
B.Sc (Med) MBBS (Hons), FANZCA, FFICANZA, D Av Med.
Dr. Howard Roby graduated with Honours in Medicine from the University of Sydney in 1978. He then spent the next 6 years in specialist training at St. Vincent's Hospital and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Anaesthetists in 1984.
Dr. Roby then underwent further specialist qualification in intensive care and for the next ten years was Staff Specialist and Director of Intensive Care at Liverpool Hospital. During this time Dr. Roby also developed a busy anaesthetic practice specializing in ophthalmic surgery where he has been an invited guest speaker at New South Wales, Australian and International Anaesthetic conferences on the topic of "Anaesthesia in Eye Surgery".
In addition as part of his intensive care specialist qualifications and experience Dr. Roby gained further qualifications in Aviation Medicine in 1994. For the last twenty years he has been actively involved in performing and supervising thousands of domestic and international medical retrievals particularly in emergency situations.
Dr. Roby is often called upon by overseas specialists for advice on the management of critically ill patients in aeromedical evacuation. Dr. Roby has been an invited guest speaker at many local, national and international meetings specifically on the topic of aeromedical evacuation and has written several chapters in many text books on this area and related aeromedical anaesthetic topics.
In 1999 he left his intensive care practice at Liverpool Hospital and was appointed a Visiting Medical Officer in anaesthesia at St. Vincent's Public and Private Hospital.
Dr. Roby's knowledge of ophthalmic anaesthesia is unsurpassed in his field.
