Having performed over 18,000 Lasik procedures, Dr Binetter is one of the most experienced laser eye surgery Doctors in Australia.

The Institute is headed by respected surgeon Dr Ronald Binetter. He was one of the first Australian Ophthalmologists to be certified in the USA to perform LASIK and now instructs other laser eye surgery Doctors in LASIK and lens implant procedures.

Dr. Ronald Binetter graduated in Medicine from the University of New South Wales in 1981. He then spent 5 years in specialist ophthalmic training at Sydney Eye Hospital and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 1990 and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1991. After a year as a Research Associate in Ophthalmology at St. Vincent's Hospital he was appointed as a Clinical Assistant in Ophthalmology. At the same time he became a Visiting Medical Officer at Goulburn Base Hospital and a clinical examiner in Ophthalmology for the Civil Aviation Authority. In 1995 he was appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer in Ophthalmology at St. Vincent's Hospital. With the emergence of the Excimer laser and Laser Eye Surgery Dr. Binetter travelled to the USA and Canada where he was one of the first Ophthalmologists in Australia to be certified to perform LASIK. He underwent training with the pioneers of this procedure and in 1996 established a Laser Eye Surgery Centre specializing in LASIK. This centre now known as the Australian Institute of Eye Surgery specializes in LASIK and Cataract Surgery. It incorporates the finest available laser technology and vision correction treatments. Dr. Binetter has performed over 18,000 Lasik and over 10,000 Cataract and Implant procedures. He is one of the most experienced Lasik and Cataract surgeons in Australia. He now instructs other surgeons in Lasik and Cataract Surgery. He is a founding member of the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and holds memberships to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.

Dr Anthony Maloof MB BS(Hons), MBiomedE, FRANZCO, FRACS

Dr. Anthony Maloof obtained his Honours degree in Medicine in 1989 from the University of New South Wales. In 1991 he was awarded the Cedric Cohen prize for excellence and in 1993 the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists ARVO travel scholarship. In 1996 he was awarded the RACO/Sigma travelling fellowship.
He then spent 4 years in training at Sydney Eye Hospital before and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists in 1996 and obtained a Master of Biomedical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, followed by the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 1997.
Dr. Maloof then travelled to England where he undertook three Advanced Fellowships in the following areas. In 1997-8 a Cornea, Cataract and External Diseases Fellowship at the world reknowned Moorefields Eye Hospital. In 1998-9 an Oculoplastic, Orbital and Lacrimal Surgery Fellowship at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. In 1999-2000 a Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery Fellowship once again at Moorefields Eye Hospital.
Dr. Maloof has published over 20 papers in major international peer reviewed journals in Ophthalmology. In addition he has presented his clinical experience and research at numerous international and national meetings where he has been awarded the following prizes:
1.First Prize for Presentation in 1998 at the American Society of Cataract, IOL and Refractive Surgery. 2.First Prize at the Film Festival in 1998 at the American Society of Cataract, IOL and Refractive Surgery. 3.Second Prize at the Film Festival in 1999 at the American Society of Cataract, IOL and Refractive Surgery. 4.First Prize at the Film Festival in 2000 at the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. 5.First Prize at the Film Festival in 2000 at the American Academy of Ophthalmology. 6.First Prize at the Film Festival in 2001 at the American Society of Cataract, IOL and Refractive Surgery
Dr. Maloof is now in private practice specializing in eyelid,facial and orbital surgery.

Dr Michael Jones MBBS, FFARACS, FANZCA

Dr. Michael Jones graduated from the University of Sydney in 1984 and undertook specialist anaesthetic training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Anaesthetists in 1991. He was invited to travel overseas undertaking the position of Assistant Professor in Anaesthesiology at the University of Washington and the prestigious Children's Hospital Medical Centre in Seattle U.S.A. On his return in 1992 to Australia he was appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and in 1994 joined the editorial board for "Australasian Anaesthesia" as Assistant Editor. Dr. Jones' wide anaesthetic experience has focused very specifically on anaesthesia for ophthalmic surgery. In 1996 he was appointed to the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Anaesthesia at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, a position which he retains.
